A few months ago I shared a post on self evaluation (Reflection of Me-January 14,2024). Time to do a reflective Self-assessment.
Self-assessment can be done in various aspects of life, such as personal, academic, professional, or even in specific areas like leadership, communication, or problem-solving skills. It is a way to assess one's current state and identify areas that require development or enhancement.
The purpose of self evaluation and routine assessment is to stay focused on our journey. The process aids us in making intentional choices so we can avoid the potholes and stay out of the ruts of living a mundane life.
To conduct a self-assessment, ask yourself questions like:
- Am I making progress towards my goals?
- How do I handle challenges or setbacks?
- What are my strengths and weaknesses? ~ Have they changed since my last evaluation?
- What skills or knowledge have I gained?
- What areas do I need to improve?
- What feedback have I received from others?
As part of my 3rd act journey I plan to revisit these questions on a regular basis. This will keep me accountable to my goals, help me stay out of the ruts and allow me to celebrate my successes.
Here are a few tips tools to aid you in your own self-assessment:
gathering feedback from others
set measurable goals that can be achieved at your next scheduled assessment time
regularly reflecting on one's progress - I am doing 6 months but you can set what ever time period you are comfortable with.
