Junkin’ for Joy: Shopping Therapy

June 18th 2022

Petticoats on the Prairie Snyder show

Aka Girls Weekend!!!! #RoadTrip

Snyder is about a 90 mile drive that I am turning into a 180 mile drive to pick up my best friend and shopping buddy to drive 80 miles back to Snyder. I left the night before so her husband Bobbie could cook and bartend for us that night and we could get a stress free start to our shopping excursion.

We could have meet in the middle but where is the fun in that!! Besides that would have eliminated the drive chat 😊. Drive chat is very important, this allows you to get caught up on all the family stuff and recent events so you can focus on shopping when you get to the venue.

Arrived…let the shopping begin.

Now there are many reasons to go junkin’ main ones I find usually fall in these categories:

1. Looking for that special something, something unique for that space on that shelf/wall/space that just needs a little something special.

2. Looking for a specific something, this could be something someone has requested you be on the

look out for or something you need to finish a collection of fulfill a vision for your home.

3. Looking for nothing in particular, but would be really cool if find something inspirational.

4. Going just to hang with friends!!!

Bonus is when you can do it all….

As I am about to move I have no agenda, but brought money to spend if I see something that strikes my fancy.

Petticoats on the Prairie shows are part vintage and part boutique sales. They happen 3 times a year in different parts of West Texas.

Spring - Ballinger Summer - Snyder Fall - Levelland

Some venders go to all, some only go to specific ones so each show is always different and has something interesting for most everyone.

We had so much fun looking through the old cupboards, door knobs and laughing at the memories they brought to mind.

Saw some really unusual treasures. Met some really cool people, mostly venders, and had some really fun conversations. Vintage vendors love to tell the stories of there pieces, where they came from, how they came by them, ect….

Below is what caught my eye, and to my husband’s dismay I brought it home!

It is sad that it does not have the VW symbol but I can fix that with a little research.

Now you may ask what in the world am I going to do with a car hood?

The possibilities are endless….it can become a focal wall piece, a patio sign, a backdoor awning, or a shade cover for a corner swing….you’ll have to stay tune to see, as it will take some Pinterest searching and some day-dreaming to get my vision focused in…

but it will definitely be colorful and have a 60’s vibe to it.

Fun suggestions are welcome.
